October is the month in which pink dominates: too early for the fashion show of Victoria’s Secret, the colour comes from the pink ribbons that bring attention to breast cancer, a disease that continues to be among the leading causes of death among women and, in some cases, also affects men. Around the world every year 10.9 million people fall ill with breast cancer, 6.7 million die. As in industrialized countries things are improving, thanks to greater awareness that leads more women to get controls and a lifestyle that is slowly becoming more healthy, in the BRICS, as in other developing nations, the percentage of women who get sick and die each year is increasing.
